Prof. Yun-Jiang Rao was a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow from 1992 to 1999 at the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. From 1999 to 2004, he was the Chang-Jiang Chair Professor in Optical Engineering and Head of the Optical Fiber Technology Group at Chongqing University, China. From 2005 to 2013, he was the Dean of School of Communication and Information Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) (2005-2013). He is currently the Chang-Jiang Chair Professor in Optical Engineering, the Director of the Fiber Optics Research Center and the Key Lab/International Innovation Base of Optical Fiber Sensing & Communications (Ministry of Education, China), and the vice chairman of the Academic Committee of UESTC. He has published >400 papers in international journals and conferences as well as several book chapters and two books on fiber gratings and fiber Fabry-Perot sensors. His publications are cited by >9000 times with H-index of 44 (Google Scholar). He was an Associate Editor of IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology (2009-2014). He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Springer journal Photonic Sensors (E-SCI). He serves as a TPC member of International Conferences on Optical Fiber Sensors (OFS) and the TPC Co-Chair of OFS-22. He is the founder of Asia-Pacific Optical Sensors Conferences (APOS). Prof. Rao is fellows of IEEE, OSA and SPIE.
